【摘要】:1.1Thispracticecoversthedeterminationoffatiguepropertiesofnominallyhomogeneousmaterialsbytheuseoftestspecimenssubjectedtouniaxialforces.Itisintendedasaguideforfatiguetestingperformedinsupportofsuchactivitiesasmaterialsresearchanddevelopment,mechanicaldesign,processandqualitycontrol,productperformance,andfailureanalysis.Whilethispracticeisintendedprimarilyforstrain-controlledfatiguetesting,somesectionsmayprovideusefulinformationforforce-controlledorstress-controlledtesting.1.2Theuseofthispracticeislimitedtospecimensanddoesnotcovertestingoffull-scalecomponents,structures,orconsumerproducts.1.3Thispracticeisapplicabletotemperaturesandstrainratesforwhichthemagnitudesoftime-dependentinelasticstrainsareonthesameorderorlessthanthemagnitudesoftime-independentinelasticstrains.Norestrictionsareplacedonenvironmentalfactorssuchastemperature,pressure,humidity,medium,andothers,providedtheyarecontrolledthroughoutthetest,donotcauselossoforchangeindimensionwithtime,andaredetailedinthedatareport.Note18212;Theterminelasticisusedhereintorefertoallnonelasticstrains.Thetermplasticisusedhereintoreferonlytothetime-independent(thatis,noncreep)componentofinelasticstrain.Totrulydetermineatime-independentstraintheforcewouldhavetobeappliedinstantaneously,whichisnotpossible.Ausefulengineeringestimateoftime-independentstraincanbeobtainedwhenthestrainrateexceedssomevalue.Forexample,astrainrateof1103sec1isoftenusedforthispurpose.Thisvalueshouldincreasewithincreasingtesttemperature.1.4ThispracticeisrestrictedtothetestingofuniformgagesectiontestspecimenssubjectedtoaxialforcesasshowninFig.1(a).Testingislimitedtostrain-controlledcycling.Thepracticemaybeappliedtohourglassspecimens,seeFig.1(b),buttheuseriscautionedaboutuncertaintiesindataanalysisandinterpretation.Testingisdoneprimarilyunderconstantamplitudecyclingandmaycontaininterspersedholdtimesatrepeatedintervals.Thepracticemaybeadaptedtoguidetestingformoregeneralcaseswherestrainortemperaturemayvaryaccordingtoapplicationspecifichistories.Dataanalysismaynotfollowthispracticeinsuchcases.
